Ageing well on the autism spectrum

Led by researchers at the University of New South Wales, Australia’s first longitudinal study of autistic adults is collecting data that will improve understanding of life in adulthood for autistic people and support the development of tools and strategies to improve health and wellbeing outcomes. We're calling for adults over the age of 25 to participate in this important study including those not on the spectrum.

A report released today by The Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism (Autism CRC) has uncovered discrepancies in autism diagnosis practices across Australia and confirmed the need to implement national standards. Commissioned by the Commonwealth Department of Social Services, researchers undertook a national survey of health professionals participating in diagnostic assessments.

The Australian Autism Biobank officially launched by The Hon Sussan Ley MP

The Australian Autism Biobank was officially launched today by The Hon Sussan Ley MP, Minister for Health, Sport and Aged Care. The Australian Autism Biobank will contain a detailed phenotypic and genotypic profile of each donor providing a rich and unique dataset of almost 5,000 individuals, developing a valuable asset for Australian researchers and their international collaborators.
