How can we support the healthcare needs of autistic adults without intellectual disability?

Published September 2019
Abstract

Autistic people are more likely to be diagnosed with a range of physical and mental health conditions (i.e. epilepsy, cardiovascular disease and diabetes) and are 2 times more likely to die prematurely compared to the general population. Additionally, they experience a range of barriers to accessing healthcare and have unmet health-care needs. We conducted a systematic review of the literature on the barriers and facilitators to health care for autistic adults without intellectual disability.
