Online course now available for clinicians

Autism CRC is thrilled to announce the launch of a short course designed to support clinicians wanting to implement the National Guideline for the Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism with clinical practice.

Course enrolment is open to all key clinical professionals supporting individuals and families through autism assessments and diagnosis and is currently available for members and non-members through Speech Pathology Australia.

Autism CRC Awards for Achievement in Autism Spectrum Research

Autism CRC Awards open!

The annual Autism CRC Awards for Achievement in Autism Spectrum Research are now open. The awards recognise and celebrate research and development initiatives that are exemplary of the Autism CRC's vision, mission and values.

The awards are open to all organisations and researchers undertaking quality research related to autism, regardless of affiliation with Autism CRC. Nominations close 26th September 2022.

Consultation closing soon

There's still time to give your feedback on the draft National Guideline for supporting the learning, participation, and wellbeing of autistic children and their families in Australia. Community consultation closes at 5:00pm (AEST) on 29th August.

The Guideline will support families to make informed choices when accessing services, and provide professionals with a set of Recommendations and Good Practice Points to guide safe, effective and desirable supports.

Welcoming in a new era

After nine successful years of activities our Cooperative Research Centre funding agreement expired on 30 June 2022. While Autism CRC will no longer be part of the CRC Program, the company and collaborating partners will continue to pursue our vision through our legacy operations. We are extremely grateful for the commitment and support of all our Participants and partners, individuals and organisations, for their contribution to our unique collaboration to date.

As Autism CRC Ltd moves forward, we are very pleased to have signed on nine Member organisations and fifteen Affiliates to date. We welcome all our continuing and new partners, and look forward to working with them.

Busy times at the Sylvia Rodger Academy

After so many COVID-19 interruptions, it's been an exciting time at the Sylvia Rodger Academy, with three successful face-to-face workshops taking place in recent months, including:

  • Self-Advocacy@Work (April)
  • Research Academy residential (June)
  • Future Leaders residential (July).

An initiative of Autism CRC, the Sylvia Rodger Academy delivers nationwide programs aimed at empowering autistic adults.

SST gets a new name and a CEO

We're delighted to announce long-time Chief Operating Officer and Clinical Psychologist, Kathleen Davey, as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the newly-named Social Science Translated Pty Ltd (SST). SST continues to deliver evidence-based practical resources to engage professionals, children and families to diversify life skills.

We congratulate Kathleen and wish her the best in her new role.

There’s still time to register for the 2022 Australasian Society for Autism Research (ASfAR) conference. Abstracts for oral or poster presentations close on 4 September. The conference will be held in person on the 28 and 29 November at the Deakin Waterfront Campus in Geelong, Victoria.
