The National Guideline for supporting the learning, participation, and wellbeing of autistic children and their families in Australia provides clear and consistent Recommendations and Practice Points for practitioners who deliver supports to autistic children and their families, to ensure they are doing so in ways that are effective, safe and desirable to children and their families.

Launched in 2023, the Guideline focuses on practitioners delivering non-pharmacological supports in community and clinical settings that aim to support children aged 0-12 years but has a lifespan perspective, recognising that early supports should lay the foundation for a positive future.

The Guideline may also be relevant to:

  • Autistic children and their families.
  • Other people involved in supporting autistic children and their families, such as educators.
  • Organisations providing training to practitioners or students.
  • Governments and other policy-making organisations.

Registering will you full access to the Guideline and supporting documents, including Recommendations and Good Practice Points. The Guideline is available as both a downloadable PDF document, and as a series of interactive webpages.
