National Framework for assessing children’s functional strengths and support needs
Work is underway to develop an evidence-based framework for assessing, differentiating, and reporting children’s functional strengths and support needs.
The National Framework for assessing children’s functional strengths and support needs (The Framework) is being co-produced with the community and will address the current gap in understanding and lack of consensus about how best to assess, differentiate, and report children’s functional strengths and support needs.
The Framework will be relevant to working with all children with support needs, irrespective of whether they have a diagnosis or not, or may receive a diagnosis in the future.
This means that the Framework will be able to guide policy and practice across the range of services, systems, and supports (e.g., community, health, education, disability), making it easier for children and families to get the support they need.
