Online health information and me

Autism CRC researchers at the University of Queensland are looking at how adults on the autism spectrum with intellectual disability find health information online. They want to find out how to make websites better for people.

Who can participate?

Adults on the autism spectrum with intellectual disability and their support people.

What does my participation involve?

Adult on the spectrum with intellectual disability

  • Completing a short survey about yourself
  • Talking to the researchers about how you look for health information. The researchers will also ask you to look at some health websites. You can show them what you like and don’t like.
  • If you want to, a few months later you can look at a draft website made by the researchers. The researchers will ask for your feedback on the draft website.

Support person

  • Completing a short survey about yourself
  • Participating in a focus group or interview about how you look for health information. The researchers will also ask you to look at some health websites. You can show them what you like and don’t like.
  • If you want to, a few months later you can look at a draft website made by the researchers. The researchers will ask for your feedback on the draft website.

Will I be paid to take part in the research project?

No, you will not be paid. However, you will be helping to develop recommendations for future health information websites. This will help website developers to better meet the needs and preferences of adults on the autism spectrum with intellectual disability.

All participants will receive a $30 gift card.
