Autism CRC Research Academy 2017
The Autism CRC Research Academy was established in 2015 and comprises Autistic adults and autism researchers. Academy members have been trained in inclusive research, specifically peer research (also termed ‘co-production). This involves researchers and Autistic people working together as peers to ensure what is being researched and how it is being researched, is both appropriate for and relevant to people on the spectrum and their communities.
Our 2017 Research Academy took place in Melbourne with participants including seven autism researchers, 14 autistic adults and Autism CRC staff. Topics included research designs, ethics, power relationships, engaging in peer research and making it work, research translation and hands-on workshopping. This report details these activities, and provides an evaluation.
