PhD Medicine, MSc Teaching, BSc Occupational Therapy
Professor Torbjörn Falkmer led the Autism CRC Adulthood Program 3 research teams from 2013 to 2020. His main focus is on longitudinal studies and randomised controlled trials covering vocational educational assessments, employment outcomes and health and well-being in adulthood in people with autism.
Torbjörn joined the School of Occupational Therapy and Social Work at Curtin University as a Senior Research Fellow in 2010. His research interest is in visual perceptual abilities in Asperger’s Syndrome with expertise in visual perception, eye tracking, EEG and transportation. His research is concerned with autism and visual perception and cognition, and the ability for people with autism to recognise faces and emotions. The other aspect of his research involves the transport of children and adults with disabilities, with particular focus on driver education and driver assessment.
“Only a fraction of all autism-related research has been allocated to the adult years, higher education employment and community participation. This is a unique change to make a difference for adults with autism in Australia and overseas.”
